Applicants must be: Sri Lankans aged 18 years and Organisations,Companies and Institutions satisfying stipulated requirements and Foreigners possessing a resident visa can open current accounts.
A satisfactory introduction (an existing current account holder or a person of good standing or a Bank reference), will be obtained.
Minimum initial deposit required is Rs.10,000/-.
Average monthly balance to be maintained is Rs. 5,000/- for Personal accounts and Rs. 10,000/- for Business accounts, if not a Service Charge will be levied.
Credit balances, no interest is paid.
Debit balances interest levied at current rates.
Debit Tax of 0.1% is recoverable, on the total debits made for the month (excluding Debit Tax exempted debits). This is recovered on the first working day of the following month. If the total debit amount is less than Rs. 20,000/- for the relevant month, then no Debit Tax is charged.
