At Union Bank, we are very alive at all time to our responsibilities as a Corporate Citizen. We are highly conscious of our bounden duty to contribute our share, both by way of financial assistance as well as giving of our time, compassion and empathy, to uplift the social standards of our society.
Team Union Bank spent a very fulfilling afternoon with the little inmates of the children’s ward at the Cancer Institute at Maharagama, lighting up the lives of the little ones with a magic show, followed by a sing-along in which many children and parents participated. The Team visited the ward and distributed dry rations, toys and drugs to the patients, and the sense of having done something worthwhile for our fellow beings was very rewarding. In the course of this visit, we also met a child whose eyes have been cancerous and who needs transplants. We have undertaken to provide financial and other assistance.
We also came across a mother who was ill with cancer and who did not have a house to get back to after her treatment. We are building a proper house for her, complete with electricity and plumbing.
On an annual basis, we visit orphans at Mother Theresa’s Home in Moratuwa. We sing to and with them and provide refreshments for them to enjoy. We also provide bed linen, soap, toothpaste, pencils and books, etc., to these children in our effort to brighten up their lives.
The victims of the Tsunami are cared for by us on an on-going basis and we provide dry rations, school books and other requirements of an identified family. We are also assisting in the building of a house of a displaced family.
Those in the battlefront also receive our caring and we provide clothing, bed linen, toiletries, etc. to injured and disabled soldiers.
It is our belief that we must share what we receive. Team Union Bank looks for opportunities to do so, with great zeal. If we have nothing left to give, we give of our time.
